Lots of mistakes in this score sorry
So glad I finally found this version with the help of Reddit. My father and I both sang this version decades apart and have been struggling to find the version we both sung in choir as young lads. Truly a beautiful piece
Mendelsohn: MAGNIFICENT COMPOSER EVER!
Wonderful
Not surprising it's not a hymn. It's a left-wing patriotic song. Parry was a lifelong atheist and a socialist, and Blake was hardly conventional.
I will forever love this piece, I am a pianist, but I also sing in my own school choir and we did this piece (I sang Tenor 2) combined with two other choirs and it truly is just a marvel that a human composed this angelic music.
qué maravilla

Beautiful and inspiring!
Insanae et vanae curae by Joseph Haydn* is a *sacred motet* (not a ‘song’); originally from the Italian oratorio Il ritorno di Tobia, Haydn later re-worked the original Italian text to Latin words, it is thus a contrafactum. ‘Franz’ is a baptismal name and should never be used; in the same way, to refer to Johannes Chrisostomus Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart is equally as absurd as referring to Franz Joseph Haydn.
